Kirkcudbright enjoys a sheltered position in the estuary of the River Dee on the north Solway shore. Only 25 miles west of Dumfries the town is easily accessible from the M6/M74 motorways and from the Stranraer and the irish sea ferries.
Kirkcudbright itself is just off the main A75 Gretna to Stranraer road.
